Fidelity Bank Plc has reinforced its commitment to community development by renovating parts of Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos, while also paying school fees for some of the children and providing food items to improve their welfare.
The intervention, carried out under the Bank’s Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), also included the replacement of damaged roofing and POP ceiling, fumigation of the facility, and donation of essential food supplies to address the orphanage’s immediate needs.
Speaking during the outreach, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative, championed by the Bank’s Audacious Class of newly inducted employees, demonstrates the institution’s commitment to empowering staff to drive impactful community projects.
According to him, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme enables employees to contribute their time, resources and skills towards improving lives in communities where the Bank operates.
“This is what the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme is about. It gives our employees the opportunity to contribute their time, resources and talents towards improving lives in the communities where we operate. The Audacious Class identified Heritage Homes Orphanage, assessed their most pressing needs and implemented three key interventions—infrastructural renovation, food donation and payment of school fees,” Nwagboh said.
He noted that the intervention reflects the sustainable impact the programme was designed to achieve, adding that the children now have a safer environment, access to food supplies and assurance that their education will continue.
“We are delighted to be a part of their journey. Today, these children have a secure roof over their heads, access to essential food supplies and the assurance that their education will continue. This is the kind of sustainable impact the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme was designed to achieve,” he added.
Responding, the Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, described the intervention as timely and life-changing, expressing gratitude to Fidelity Bank for restoring hope to the children.
“We sincerely appreciate Fidelity Bank for this remarkable act of kindness. They completely renovated our roof, replaced the damaged POP ceiling, fumigated the home, provided food items and, most importantly, paid the school fees of some of our children. Their generosity has brought relief, comfort and renewed hope to everyone in this home,” she said.
Light added that the intervention would provide a safer and more conducive environment for the children while significantly improving their quality of life.
Fidelity Helping Hands Programme is the Bank’s flagship employee-led corporate social responsibility initiative, which allows staff to identify community needs, raise funds for projects, and receive matching support from the Bank for implementation.
Fidelity Bank serves more than 10 million customers through its digital banking platforms, 255 business offices across Nigeria and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited. The bank has received several local and international recognitions for innovation, SME support, trade finance and community empowerment.
