Emerging campus musicians took centre stage at the 2026 edition of Soundcity OnTour held at Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, as the Bigi Music Competition provided a platform for young artistes to showcase their talents and gain wider recognition.

The competition, held on October 31, produced Adegbenro Abdulateef, popularly known as Yomide, as the winner, while Ige Samuel Oluwadamilare, known as Voice Boy, emerged first runner-up. Amuda Abdulazeem, performing as Hazzi The Hollow, finished in third position.

The event, which brought together students, music enthusiasts and performing artistes, featured a blend of emerging campus talents and established entertainers, turning the university campus into a centre of musical performances and entertainment.

Yomide and the other contestants distinguished themselves through their performances, with the competition offering them an opportunity to perform before a live audience, build confidence and expose their musical abilities beyond the university environment.

The entertainment experience was further enriched by performances from Kinglex, Kodee, Slimcase, Marrz and Muyeez, who thrilled the audience with their appearances and added excitement to the campus gathering.

The programme was powered by Bigi and Fearless Energy Drink as part of Soundcity OnTour’s 2026 campus initiative, which seeks to connect with young Nigerians through music, entertainment and talent discovery.

In a statement made available to journalists, the organisers said the initiative was designed to celebrate youthful creativity and provide emerging musicians with opportunities to showcase their abilities before wider audiences.

The statement noted that the Bigi Music Competition was part of efforts to connect the brand with young Nigerians through music while creating opportunities for promising talents to gain visibility and recognition.

It added that taking the competition to university campuses would enable students to express their creativity, develop their musical interests and connect with audiences beyond their immediate communities.

The organisers also said Fearless Energy Drink complemented the experience by identifying with the confidence, ambition and expressive spirit of young Nigerians.

The KWASU edition, according to the statement, further demonstrated the importance of campus entertainment platforms in bringing students together and creating opportunities for emerging creatives to pursue their ambitions.

Soundcity OnTour is expected to continue its 2026 campus tour across Nigerian universities, with a focus on music, entertainment and providing platforms for young talents to showcase their creativity.
