Dr Festus Oshoba has been scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the forthcoming Press Week of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), billed for June 27, 2026, in Lagos.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the NUJ Secretariat, Ladi Lawal Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, during the official unveiling of activities lined up for the annual Press Week.

Dr Oshoba, who also serves as Chief Consultant Ophthalmologist at Ladkem Specialist Eye Hospital, Lagos, is expected to speak on the theme: “Journalism and Nation Building: Promoting Accountability and Good Governance.”

The keynote address is expected to examine the role of the media in strengthening democracy, promoting press freedom, and advancing ethical journalism, while also offering insights into building a more accountable governance system in Nigeria.

Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Abraham Akpabio, described Oshoba as a “cat with nine lives,” noting that his selection was based on his longstanding contributions to journalism and his commitment to human capital development across journalism and medical fields.

He added that the Chapel deliberately selected individuals with proven impact and professional excellence to enrich the discourse at the event.

Meanwhile, Engr James Ukachukwu was earlier announced as Chairman of the occasion.
