YABATECH ends BIGI Soundcity OnTour on high note, Opeyemi wins music competition

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, came alive with music, dance and youthful energy as the Bigi Soundcity OnTour ended on the campus, with Oladapo Taiwo Opeyemi emerging winner of the Bigi Music Competition.

The three-day campus experience, which began on September 15, brought together students, emerging artistes and entertainers, culminating in a keenly contested music competition with a N1 million cash prize and an opportunity for young talents to take their performances to a bigger stage.

Opeyemi emerged winner after an impressive final performance, while Iheanacho Favour Emeka and Anikene Victor Chidera finished as first and second runners-up respectively.

The excitement extended beyond the music competition as students also participated in the Fearless Dance Challenge, showcasing their dance moves, creativity and individual styles before an enthusiastic campus audience.

The entertainment continued with performances by Modola, Táríq, Syemca, Slimcase, Mr P, Kodee, Duuwa and Rukmani, who kept students singing and dancing as the YABATECH edition of Soundcity OnTour reached its climax.

Speaking on the activation, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Rite Foods Limited, Ekuma Eze, said the Bigi and Fearless brands remained committed to providing platforms for young Nigerians to express their creativity and connect with opportunities.

Eze said, “Young people are not waiting for culture to happen; they are creating it every day. Through the Bigi and Fearless brands, we want to meet them where that creativity is most visible and give them platforms where they can express themselves, discover their capabilities and connect with opportunities beyond the immediate moment.”

The YABATECH edition demonstrated the growing appeal of campus-based entertainment platforms, giving students an opportunity to experience live performances while providing emerging talents with a platform to showcase their abilities.

For Opeyemi, Favour and Chidera, the competition provided an opportunity to turn their musical talents into recognition, while the performances and dance challenge added colour to an already vibrant campus experience.

With the YABATECH activation concluded, the Soundcity OnTour journey continues to other campuses, promising more music, talent competitions, dance challenges and opportunities for young Nigerians to showcase their creativity.

As anticipation builds over the next stop, students across campuses will be watching to see where Bigi and Fearless take the experience next.
