FUMAN Clarifies President’s Tenure, Defends Legitimacy of National Convention

The Fuji Musicians Association of Nigeria (FUMAN) has clarified concerns surrounding the tenure of its National President, insisting that the recently concluded National Convention and emergence of new executives complied fully with the association’s constitution.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Adebola Muili Isimijola, popularly known as “King Kakaki Safari,” FUMAN said the clarification became necessary following comments in some quarters questioning the tenure of the National President and other elected officers.

The association stated that its National Convention, held on May 13, 2026, at Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Ahoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, was conducted in line with constitutional provisions and democratic procedures.

According to the association, the constitution provides for the conduct of conventions and election of officers, while the National Executive Council is dissolved at every convention to pave the way for fresh elections.

FUMAN maintained that its constitution does not impose term limits on National, State and Zonal executives, including the offices of the President, Governors and Chairmen.

“The constitution does not prescribe any term limit for National, State and Zonal Executives, including the office of the President, Governors and Chairmen thereby making all duly elected officers constitutionally recognized upon the mandate of members,” the statement said.

The association further stressed that the convention was conducted transparently, producing a combination of experienced and newly elected officers to manage its affairs.

Providing a breakdown of the newly elected executives, FUMAN disclosed that six officers are serving third terms, five are serving second terms, while two are serving their first terms.

The association said the outcome reflected “the collective confidence reposed in them by members of the association nationwide.”

Reaffirming its commitment to constitutional order, FUMAN stated that it remains guided by due process and the collective will of its members across the country.

The association also urged stakeholders in the entertainment industry, members of the public and its membership base to ignore reports alleging constitutional violations concerning the tenure of its National Executives.

FUMAN reiterated its commitment to “unity, peace, professionalism, and the continued promotion and preservation of Fuji music across Nigeria and beyond.”

The newly elected National President of the association is Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Agboola from Lagos State, while Alhaji Musbau Alani Omokekere and Alhaji Ismail Adisa Owala emerged as 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents respectively. Other officers elected include Ultimate Moshood Ayinde Abiodun Tardico as National General Secretary and Adebola Muili Isimijola as National Publicity Secretary.
