An alleged theft at the service of songs for late Nollywood actor Cjay Nwoks at a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parish in Gbagada, Lagos, has sparked reactions on social media after CCTV footage purportedly showed a man taking a bag containing valuables.
Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe raised the alarm over the incident, appealing to the public to help identify or locate the man accused of taking the items during the ceremony held in honour of the deceased.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, October 7, at RCCG Maranatha Church, Gbagada, where family members, friends and colleagues gathered to pay their last respects to the late actor.
Arukwe shared images of the man on social media and called for assistance in locating him. Another actor, Jude Okpara, also shared what was described as CCTV footage of the incident.

The footage reportedly showed the man near a bag before allegedly picking it up and leaving the area. The circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the items prompted attention to the church’s surveillance recordings.
Reports circulating online identified filmmaker and fashion designer Kingsley Okoye Rex as the owner of the missing items. The bag was said to contain mobile phones, ATM cards and other valuables.
However, claims that the missing phones were two iPhone 18 Pro Max devices could not be independently confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

There was no confirmed public information at the time of filing this report establishing the man’s identity, an arrest or any formal police action over the incident.
