CP Ojajuni moves to strengthen security at OOU Ibogun campus , announces Police post

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on Monday visited the Ibogun Campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) as part of efforts to assess the prevailing security situation and strengthen safety within the institution and surrounding communities.

The development was contained in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, and made available to journalists on Monday, 27th April, 2026.

The CP was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Bolanle Muritala, and the Area Commander, Ifo, ACP Seyi Williams, psc.

Upon arrival, CP Ojajuni held a strategic engagement with key stakeholders, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Johnson Agboola; the Provost, College of Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Professor Bashir Olufemi Odufuwa; His Royal Highness, Oba Timothy Sowumi, the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi; principal officers of the institution; community leaders; the Student Union Government (SUG) leadership; and students.

During the meeting, stakeholders expressed concerns over emerging security challenges affecting the campus and host communities. All parties, however, agreed on the need for coordinated and practical interventions to address the situation.

CP Ojajuni assured the university community and residents that the Command had carefully assessed the security environment and would immediately intensify policing efforts around the institution and adjoining areas.

He stated that the Command would deploy proactive policing strategies, increase patrol operations, and sustain continuous engagement with stakeholders to guarantee a safe learning environment.

“The Command has carefully assessed the security situation and will immediately strengthen policing around the university and adjoining communities,” the CP said.

In a major security boost, CP Ojajuni announced the establishment of a police post within the university community to enhance rapid response, improve police visibility, and strengthen community policing initiatives.

He also called for stronger collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps, to ensure effective security coverage of the area.

The CP later visited the Ibogun Divisional Police Headquarters, where he interacted with officers and men, assessed operational readiness, and issued directives aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to community policing, inter-agency synergy, and sustained stakeholder engagement in maintaining peace and security across Ogun State.
