JMG Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and supporting climate-conscious development across Nigeria as the world commemorates the 2026 World Environment Day.

The company made the pledge in a statement marking this year’s celebration themed, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” with the campaign slogan #NowForClimate.

JMG stated that addressing climate change requires collective action and practical solutions capable of delivering both environmental and economic benefits, noting that its expanding portfolio of solar and hybrid energy solutions is helping businesses and communities reduce their environmental footprint while improving energy efficiency and reliability.

Speaking on the company’s sustainability agenda, Chief Commercial Officer of JMG, Rabi Jammal, stressed the need for concrete actions in tackling environmental challenges.

“Sustainability must be driven by action. Through innovative and energy-efficient solutions, we are helping businesses reduce their environmental impact while supporting a more sustainable future,” Jammal said.

He noted that the growing demand for cleaner and smarter energy systems presents opportunities for organisations to embrace innovation, improve operational efficiency and contribute to climate resilience.

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose two-term tenure expires on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Aina is expected to assume leadership of the examination body following the completion of Oloyede’s tenure.

Onanuga described the incoming registrar as “a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector institutional reform.”

Professor Aina, who will turn 40 in July, holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Aina reportedly began his association with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained experience in admissions administration and data-driven institutional processes.

The Presidency noted that the academic has more than 15 years of post-graduation experience spanning technology, policy, and institutional transformation, including advisory roles for federal and state governments on digital transition and operational reforms.

The statement added that Aina had also served as a consultant to examination bodies such as National Examinations Council and National Business and Technical Examinations Board on ICT systems, examination integrity, and digital process optimisation.

He is also a member of professional bodies including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

“President Tinubu expects Professor Aina to bring to bear his vast experience, knowledge and practical insight into the operations of the Board, to take the critical educational organisation beyond the laudable heights achieved by his predecessor,” the statement said.

The Lagos State Police Command has received operational vehicles and protective equipment from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund ahead of the launch of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in the state.

The Police Command, in a statement on Friday by its spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the donation was aimed at strengthening crime prevention and rapid response operations across Lagos.

The items donated by the LSSTF include two operational vehicles, 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic shields for the newly established unit.

Presenting the equipment, the Executive Secretary of the LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting security agencies with operational tools needed for effective policing and public safety.

Receiving the assets, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, thanked the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their continued support to the Command.

He said the support would “significantly boost the operational readiness” of the VCRU and strengthen the Command’s capacity to combat violent crimes and respond swiftly to emergencies across the state.

Fatai also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and improved public safety in line with ongoing reforms in the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

An eight-year-old Lagos pupil, Adedoyin Precious Shanu, has launched a children’s book titled Tola the Bully, aimed at tackling bullying and promoting kindness, discipline, and respect among young readers.

The book launch, held on Saturday in the Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos State, attracted parents, teachers, pupils, and guests who gathered to celebrate the young author’s achievement and her message of positive behaviour among children.

The 60-page book, spread across 10 chapters, tells the story of Tola, a wealthy but rude girl who bullies people both at home and in school, believing her privileged background gives her the freedom to act without consequences.

Part of the book reads: “This story is about a very rude girl and a bully named Tola. She is mean to everyone at home and at school. Since her family is very rich, she decided she would do anything she wants and get away with it. Will Tola change? Will Tola stop bullying? Find out by reading this amazing book.”

Speaking at the launch, Adedoyin said she was inspired to write the book due to increasing cases of bullying among children.

“I wrote this book because I want children to be respectful. I also want children to know that kindness and courage can make a big difference,” she said.

She added that children must learn to stand for what is right and avoid bullying others, adding that she hopes to continue writing more books in the future.

Adedoyin, born on February 20, 2017, is a Grade Four pupil of Green Apple School and has been recognised as the overall best student in her class and best in English Language.

Her mother, Mrs. Lola Valentine Shanu, said her daughter’s talent became evident early in life, noting that she was very good with reading, writing and spelling from a young age.

“I’m super excited and grateful to God for giving her the wisdom to write,” she said.

The proprietress of Green Apple School, Mrs. Bunmi Ola-King, described Adedoyin as an exceptional pupil who had consistently shown intelligence and creativity from preschool.

She noted that bullying remains a growing concern in schools and called for wider adoption of the book in primary schools across Lagos State.

Book reviewers at the event, including Annabelle Uduaghan, Ms. Winning Harry, Mr. Hammed Lasisi, Samuel Omoniyi, and Shaun Okunbanjo, praised the book for its strong moral message and relevance to child behaviour in society.

They noted that it effectively addresses bullying, particularly among children from privileged backgrounds, while also highlighting the possibility of positive transformation when proper guidance and discipline are provided.

The reviewers emphasized the importance of parental responsibility, stressing that children require adequate attention, supervision, and emotional support regardless of parents’ professional demands, warning that lack of involvement could contribute to behavioural challenges in children.

One of her classmates, Morade Adeniyi, also commended the book and encouraged children to avoid bullying while embracing kindness and respect toward others.

Through Tola the Bully, the young author hopes to inspire children to speak up against bullying and embrace values of kindness, courage, and respect, while also highlighting the role of parents, teachers, and society in shaping children’s behaviour.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, on Sunday urged media practitioners to remain purposeful, impactful and divinely guided in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Adeboye gave the charge during the church’s May 2026 Thanksgiving Service, where special prayers were offered for print, radio and electronic media professionals and their families.

Speaking on the theme, “Created for Greater Impact,” and preaching from Book of Jeremiah 1:4-5, the cleric said every individual was created by God for a definite purpose and must strive to fulfil that divine assignment.

He said, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…,” noting that every life is part of God’s divine plan.

Describing life as a stage directed by God, Adeboye said each person has a specific role and appointed time for manifestation.

“There is a set time for everyone. You cannot act until God is ready,” he said.

Offering prayers for media practitioners, the RCCG leader asked God to grant them protection, wisdom, strength and continued relevance in the evolving media industry.

He prayed, “Help them, support them, strengthen them, guide them and protect them. Let it be well with them in every area of their lives.”

Adeboye also urged worshippers to seek clarity of purpose and align themselves with God’s will to avoid missing their destinies.

He cited biblical examples to illustrate how God can transform lives for greater impact, stressing that no life is beyond redemption.

The cleric further led the congregation in prayers for divine favour in the month of May, asking God to grant His children special grace, help and supernatural provision.

The service featured an altar call for salvation and intercessory prayers for new converts.

Nigerian singer, Temmie Ovwasa has said she would rather go to hell than stuck with Christians in heaven.

The self-styled lesbian stated this in the latest episode of Doyin’s Corner audiovisual podcast hosted by former Big Brother Naija reality star, Doyinsola David.

“I do not think I’m going to hell. I joke about it often because it gets on some people’s nerves, and I love to do that [laughs].

“But I do not think I’m going to hell. I do not believe that there is a pit of eternal damnation that I’m going to. And to be honest, if there’s a pit of eternal damnation that I’m going to, I would rather go there than be stuck with Christians in heaven,” she said.

On reason for making the assertion, she said; “Christians are the meanest people I have met in my life. They come into my DM every day to tell me I’m going to hell. That was not what Jesus was preaching. Jesus said, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.”

I have, today, become privy to the findings of the investigation into the allegation made in an online medium that the Certificate of Exemption from National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) that I had presented was not genuine. This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration’s focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign.

Your Excellency, kindly permit me to outline some of the background to this matter. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, indeed my parental family home remains in London. My visits to Nigeria up until the age of thirty-four (34) were holidays, with visas obtained in my UK passport. I obtained my first Nigerian passport at the age of thirty-four (34) and when I relocated there was debate as to whether NYSC Law applied to me. Upon enquiry as to my status relating to NYSC, I was informed that due to my residency history and having exceeded the age of thirty (30), I was exempted from the requirement to serve. Until recent events, that remained my understanding.

On the basis of that advice and with the guidance and assistance of those, I thought were trusted associates, NYSC were approached for documentary proof of status. I then received the certificate in question. Having never worked in NYSC, visited the premises, been privy to nor familiar with their operations, I had no reason to suspect that the certificate was anything but genuine. Indeed, I presented that certificate at the 2011 Ogun State House of Assembly and in 2015 for Directorate of State Services (DSS) Clearance as well as to the National Assembly for screening. Be that as it may, as someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have decided to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September, 2018.

Your Excellency, It has been an exceptional privilege to have served our nation under your leadership and to have played a role in steering our economy at a very challenging time. I am proud that Nigeria has brought discipline into its finances, has identified and is pursuing a path to long term sustainable growth that will unlock the potential in this great economy. Under your leadership, Nigeria was able to exit recession and has now started to lay the foundations for lasting growth and wealth creation. Repositioning this huge economy is not a short term task and there are no short cuts, indeed there are tough decisions still to be made but I have no doubt that your focus on infrastructural investment, revenue mobilisation and value for money in public expenditure will deliver growth, wealth and opportunity for all Nigerians.

I thank His Excellency, the Vice President and my colleagues in the Federal Executive Council for the huge pleasure and honour of working with them. I also thank most specially, the team in the ‘Finance Family’ of advisers and heads of agencies under the Ministry of Finance. Your Excellency, this group of committed Nigerians represent a range of backgrounds, ethnicities and ages. They have worked well above and beyond the call of duty to support me in the tasks assigned. Abuja federal high court, on Friday, nullified the Osun direct primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which produced Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola as gubernatorial candidate of the party.

It could be recalled that Kunle Rasheed Adegoke, a governorship aspirant, has asked the Abuja federal high court to nullify the Osun primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Isiaka Oyetola, ex chief of staff to Rauf Aregbesola, incumbent governor, emerged winner of the election which held on July 20. Oyetola polled 127,017 votes while Adegoke got 252 votes.

But Adegoke has asked the court to declare that the election was not held according to the rules and regulations made by the APC’s national working committee (NWC) and duly approved by its national executive committee (NEC).

The APC is the first defendant in the suit while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is the second defendant.

Although “A declaration that the Osun state governorship primary election of the 1st Defendant purportedly held on the 20th day of July, 2018 in Osun state in flagrant violation of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered), the electoral act, 2010 (as amended) and the relevant provisions of the Constitution of the 1st defendant (APC) and the regulation for the conduct of political party primaries of the Independent National Electoral Commission is unconstitutional, unlawful, null and void,” it read.

“A declaration that, by the provisions of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress 2014 (as amended), article 20(v) thereof, it is ultra vires the 1st defendant to organize, hold and conduct the governorship primary election held on the 20th day of July, 2018 in Osun state without rules and regulations made by its national working committee and duly approved by its national executive committee for the purpose of nomination of candidates through primary elections.

“A declaration that, by article 25B(ii) of the constitution of the All Progressives Congress, 2014 (as amended), it is unconstitutional for the 1st defendant (APC) to organize and conduct the governorship primary election held in Osun state on the 20th day of July, 2018 without a meeting of the national executive committee approving rules and regulations which ought to be made but was never made by the national working committee for the purpose of nomination of candidates through direct primary elections.

“A declaration that it is ultra vires the 1st defendant to hold and organize the Osun state governorship primary election held in Osun state on the 20th day of July, 2018 without having given a prior 21-day notice of its primaries to the Independent National Electoral Commission (the 2nd defendant) indicating that a direct method of primary election shall be used.

“An order of this honourable court nullifying the Osun state governorship primary election of the 1st defendant held on the 20th day of July, 2018 in Osun state same having been conducted in flagrant violation of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered), the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) and the relevant provisions of the constitution of All Progressives Congress, 2014 (as amended) and the regulation for the conduct of political party primaries of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“An order restraining the 2nd defendant from according any recognition to the outcome of the said Osun state governorship primary election of the 1st defendant held on the 20th day of July, 2018 in Osun state same having been conducted in violation of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered), the electoral act, 2010 (as amended), the relevant provisions of the constitution of All Progressives Congress, 2014 (as amended) and the regulation for the conduct of political party primaries of the Independent National Electoral Commission.”

While delivering the judgement, the presiding judge granted the prayers of Barrister Kunle Rasheed Adegoke who is also known as KRAD.
