The Lagos State Police Command, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), in collaboration with the Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has sensitised transport operators, traders and other stakeholders on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism and election violence.
The sensitisation programme was held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Apapa Iganmu LCDA Secretariat, according to a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on the same day.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, the Area Commander, Area B Command, Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, urged participants to reject all forms of criminality and embrace lawful conduct.
She stressed the critical role of transport operators and traders in promoting peace and security, calling on them to support the Police with timely and credible information to curb crime.
According to her, “Transport operators and traders have a vital role to play in promoting peace and security. They should support the Police by providing timely and credible information and ensure that criminal elements are not harboured within their communities.”
The programme also featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders, who emphasised the need for collective responsibility in tackling crime, combating social vices and sustaining peaceful coexistence across communities.
The Lagos State Police Command said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by POCACOV to engage communities through public enlightenment and strengthen partnerships aimed at preventing crime and promoting a safer society.
