NCS Renovates Ife Girls High School, Awards University Scholarships

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned the fully renovated Ife Girls High School in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and announced university scholarships for the school’s three best-performing students.

The project, executed under the Service’s Customs Cares Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, was commissioned on Monday, September 14, 2026.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, urged the students to remain focused on their education, describing it as a pathway to a better future for them, their families and the country.

“Education is the passport that you need for a better life, for a better future, not just for you, but for your parents, your community, and the country,” Adeniyi said.

The CGC also announced that the top three students of the school would receive university scholarships, challenging the students to reciprocate the Service’s investment by striving for academic excellence.

“What this means is that I have thrown the ball into your court. I now want you to reward me back,” he said.

Adeniyi said the project was part of the NCS’s wider CSR programme, which he noted was being implemented in different parts of the country.

The Osun State Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, described the commissioning as a significant milestone for education in the state, saying the project addressed more than the physical needs of the school.

“This is indeed a comprehensive intervention. It addresses the school’s educational, administrative, sanitary, recreational, environmental, and worker needs,” Eluwole said.

He added that the project demonstrated an understanding of the importance of providing students with an environment that supports both effective learning and their general well-being.

“This intervention demonstrates an understanding that for students to learn effectively, their physical environment must also support their well-being,” he said.

The Principal of Ife Girls High School, Martina Akinremi, in her welcome address, thanked the Nigeria Customs Service for investing in the school and its students.

Akinremi pledged that the school would ensure proper maintenance of the renovated facilities and put them to their full potential for the benefit of students and staff.
