Group Backs ‘Carry-Go’ Okeyomi for Ifako-Ijaiye Reps Seat

A political support group, the Ojokoro Solidarity Front (OSF), has thrown its weight behind Hon. (Dr) Amb. Gabriel Oladipupo Babatunde Okeyomi, popularly called “Carry-Go,” for the Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The group described Okeyomi as a grassroots-oriented politician and a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting his long-standing connection with party structures and supporters at the community level.

In a statement jointly signed in Lagos by its Chairman, Chief Samuel Alonge, and Secretary, Princess Rashidat Abowonle, OSF expressed confidence in Okeyomi’s capacity to represent the constituency effectively at the national level.

The statement, titled “The Man Carry-Go, The Masses’ Friend,” highlighted what the group termed his growing influence in Lagos politics, particularly within Ifako-Ijaiye, where it said he enjoys widespread support.

According to the group, Okeyomi’s nickname, “Carry-Go,” symbolises his reliability and track record of fulfilling commitments, adding that he has positioned himself as a bridge between party leadership and grassroots followers.

OSF also pointed to his philanthropic activities, including scholarship schemes and empowerment initiatives targeted at widows, artisans and other vulnerable groups within and around the constituency.

The group further praised his loyalty to the APC, stating that he has consistently contributed to strengthening the party’s base, even during periods when he was not on the ballot.

On his credentials, the statement noted that his academic and diplomatic titles reflect exposure and competence, which, in its view, would enhance quality representation and governance.

It added that Okeyomi’s appeal stems from his accessibility to constituents, adherence to party ideals and a people-focused approach to politics.

The group said his combined experience in both private and public sectors has prepared him for legislative responsibilities, with a focus on addressing youth unemployment, improving security and advancing infrastructure development.

OSF also emphasised his staying power in politics, noting that he has remained active and relevant through consistent engagement, unlike some politicians who fade out after electoral setbacks.

Describing him as a voice for ordinary people, the group said his political journey underscores the value of perseverance and loyalty.

It maintained that, having built strong roots at the grassroots level, Okeyomi is now being urged by supporters to take up representation at the federal level.
