A middle-aged man, who disguised as a lunatic yet alleged to be a kidnapper and ritualist, was on Saturday, 29th December 2018 apprehended in Ikare, the headquarter of Akoko North East Local Government.
The “madman”, whose name was said to be Ololade Omogbehin confessed to be a native of Omifon Aladua, Ondo State. He was arrested with different fetish materials among which was about a yard of white cloth, dead fowl, dead bird, red oil, snail shell laced with unknown feathers and other fetish material.
He was said to have been apprehended by some vigilant residents and passerby when he was luring a girl of about seven years old to cover her head with the white clothing material found on him at the garage area of Ikare Akoko.
When Kakaki Newspot visited the scene, the suspected kidnapper and ritualist who simply gave his name as Ololade Omogbehin, confessed not to be a madman, said he’s from Omifon Aladua, a town after Ore in Ondo State.
He said he was going to Ilesa, Osun State and decided to take Ikare route. He said the lifeless fowl and the red oil were given to him by some people on his way to Ikare, that the bird found with him was killed by a vehicle.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said “This guy was caught when he was trying to lure a young girl of about seven years old to a corner. He was caught by some good Nigerians who was watching him from afar after noticing his suspicious movement that he’s a kidnapper and only pretending to be a mad man.
“Please let’s be vigilant, and God will continue to expose the evil doers,” he said.
Some charms and ritual substances were found in his pocket. The timely intervention of men of the Nigerian Police Force rescued the suspect from being set ablaze by angry residents.
When Kakaki Newspot visited the police station, Ikare Area Command on Tuesday, 1st January, 2019, the supposed lunatic was still in the police custody.
Meanwhile a reliable source confided in our reporter that the suspect might be released at anytime from that moment, saying that pressure is being mounted on the complainant to sign a released paper so that he might be released.
However, the suspect and the case was said not have been subjected to any thorough interrogation and investigation since been apprehended as he was said to yet given any further confession.
