The Ogun State Police Command has warned young people against cultism, cybercrime, substance abuse and other social vices, urging them to resist negative influences and embrace values that promote responsible leadership.
The warning was given during a youth sensitisation programme organised by the Ogun State Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the Royal Ambassadors Nigeria National Leadership Training Conference.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The conference, themed “Divine Companion”, brought together teenagers and young adults from across the country for leadership training, character development and discussions on crime prevention.

The POCACOV delegation was led by its State Coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, who, alongside NDLEA representatives, engaged the participants on the dangers of criminal activities and the tactics used to lure young people into them.
The sensitisation covered cultism, cybercrime, substance abuse, negative peer influence and deceptive recruitment practices, with emphasis on self-discipline, sound judgement and the need for young people to avoid pressures capable of compromising their future.
Addressing the participants, Opeyemi said young people had an important responsibility in building a peaceful and secure society, stressing that early value reorientation and responsible leadership were essential to preventing criminality.
He urged them to uphold integrity, accountability and patriotism, while contributing positively to their communities through responsible conduct and active citizenship.
The National Leadership of Royal Ambassadors Nigeria commended the police command and the NDLEA for the initiative, describing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and faith-based youth organisations as an important approach to raising responsible and value-driven leaders.
The programme ended with participants pledging to maintain high moral standards, reject social vices and serve as ambassadors of peace and positive values in their respective communities.
The Ogun POCACOV said it would sustain its youth engagement and community-based crime prevention activities as part of efforts to promote responsible leadership and improve public safety.
