The duo of Arowolo Jimo Segun and Ismail Ololade Aisha has launched a new book, ‘Ikare City In Short Stories’, an historical account of events in the ancient town of Ikare Akoko to unfold the culture, principles and basic traditions and customs of the hilly town.
The book, which took place on Saturday at Victory College Olugboja Lecture Theater in Ikare throws fresh light on long held accounts of Ikare women and some old relics that should not be forgotten about the town.
The book, which catalogued the reflections of Ikare community, particularly stories that occurred in the village’s cultural setting, portrayed Ikare as a small village despite the town bigness.
The 60 pages account of Ikare with 7 chapters covers the historic ‘Sheku Pelu Pelu’, ‘Minding My Business’, ‘Pride of Nigeria’, ‘The Pilot’, ‘Fela’, ‘Ikare City’ and ‘Faithful Ikare Woman’.
Among special guests and royal fathers expected to grace the occasion are Prof. Ibrahim Ajagunna, Prince Rasak Oluboyo, Rt Hon Abdulsalam Taofiq Olawale, Evangelist Ajimuda Adebayo and host of others.
Among other personalities that contributed to the success of the book launch are Chief Lawrence Adubiaro, Rt. Hon. Fatai Olotu, Hon. Adebisi Abraham, Hon. Afolabi Aguda Afo, Hon. Adewumi Olabanji, Hon. Jide Ipinsagba.
Others are Ayo Arowolo PhD, Mr. Samuel Osanyintade, Mrs. Dorcas Taiwo D.T, Mrs. Kutelu Oluwakemi, Engr Abiola Ekunnusi, Prince Adedoyin Adeleke, Bar. Lekan Adeshina, Dr. Alade Tasma, Marshal Amodu, Hon. Muyiwa Ogunyemi, Orogun Veronica Olabimpe Olayinka.
Prof. Ibrahim Ajagunna who expressed delight over the steps taken by the authors also presented a book he authored to the duo.
The Authors speaking after the event expressed gratitude to God and all the dignitaries that grace the occasion, “we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by.
“Today’s Book Launched really speaks my concept of one indivisible Ikare Akoko.”
