President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held talks with Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group in Paris on plans to deepen the conglomerate’s investments in Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
The meeting, held on Friday, September 18, 2026, formed part of the President’s working vacation in the French capital.
During the meeting, the Bolloré Group confirmed plans to expand the localisation of its operations in Nigeria across film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure and related sectors.
The Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, also outlined a series of new investments centred on Nigeria, describing the country as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Group attributed Nigeria’s growing cultural influence to the global success of Nollywood and Afrobeats, as well as increasing international demand for Nigerian creative content and culture.
President Tinubu welcomed the planned expansion, saying Nigeria’s growing global cultural influence offered an opportunity to attract more production, investment and jobs into the country.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic development and job creation, particularly for young Nigerians, while stressing the importance of digitalisation.
The President said his administration would continue to support investments capable of expanding the country’s creative and digital economy, developing local talent and strengthening critical infrastructure.
He added that Nigeria’s position as a major cultural and economic force could also make the country a base for businesses seeking to serve the African market and the wider global economy.
According to Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Agenda was focused on creating an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and global cultural reach would translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for citizens.
He said the government would continue to encourage investments that bring production and economic opportunities closer to home, particularly in sectors with strong potential to create jobs for the country’s youthful population.
