NUJ Salutes Sanusi’s Development Strides with Ambassadorial Honour

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, has honoured the Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Prince Lanre Sanusi, with its Media Games Ambassador title in recognition of what it described as his remarkable strides in grassroots development and people-oriented governance.

The honour was conferred on Sanusi during a ceremony held at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat in Lagos on Tuesday, where members of the NUJ Lagos State Executive Council and the Media Games Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, commended the council boss for his commitment to infrastructure renewal, human capital development and improved public service delivery.

Presenting the honour, Ajayi said the union was recognising Sanusi’s responsive leadership and the visible transformation recorded in the council area since he assumed office.

He said the administration had undertaken road construction and rehabilitation projects, drainage improvements, environmental sanitation initiatives, beautification of public spaces and programmes aimed at improving public safety, while also investing in education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, vocational training and support for small businesses.

Responding, Sanusi thanked the NUJ for the honour, describing it as an encouragement to remain committed to quality service and sustainable development in Amuwo-Odofin.

“My heart is full of gratitude for this recognition of what we have been able to do for our community. It is one thing to work diligently and another for people to recognise and appreciate those efforts,” he said.

The council chairman disclosed that his administration had completed at least 11 major roads within its first 11 months in office and was determined to complete several more before the end of the year.

“I am not interested in whose responsibility it is to fix a road; whether it belongs to the state or federal government. What matters is that the roads are fixed so our people can enjoy the basic amenities they deserve,” Sanusi said.

He also highlighted his administration’s investment in vocational skills acquisition, healthcare, sports development and the renovation of the Legislative Chamber, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting local government autonomy, which he said was already yielding positive results.

The NUJ Lagos State Council said it looked forward to strengthening its partnership with the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government as preparations gather momentum for the 2026 NUJ Media Games scheduled for October 5 to October 10 at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.
