Lagos CP charges officers on proactive policing, receives security equipment

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, has charged senior officers of the command to strengthen proactive policing, improve intelligence gathering and sustain prompt responses to security threats across the state.

Fatai gave the charge during a strategic security meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Commanders of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Tactical Commanders held to review the security situation and reinforce operational readiness in Lagos.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police commissioner urged officers to remain vigilant, committed and professional in the discharge of their duties.

“He emphasised the need for sustained intelligence gathering, effective supervision of personnel, and prompt responses to security threats within their respective Areas of Responsibility,” the statement said.

The statement added that the commissioner also directed commanders to ensure that professionalism and discipline are reflected among officers under their supervision.

In a move to support security operations in the state, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) donated 200 bulletproof helmets and 200 bulletproof vests to the command.

The equipment was presented to the police commissioner by the Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting security agencies with resources needed to safeguard lives and property.

Fatai, while appreciating the gesture, described the donation as a boost to operational efficiency and morale of officers engaged in frontline duties and other critical security operations.

The commissioner also commended Lagos residents for their cooperation with the police, noting that useful information provided by members of the public had contributed to the command’s successes in crime prevention and control.

He appealed for sustained collaboration from residents and urged members of the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
