Shareholders of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO) have applauded the company’s management for declaring a record N12.76 total dividend for the 2025 financial year.
The commendation came at the Group’s 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM), where investors also lauded its strong financial performance and compliance with the N500 billion minimum capital requirement set by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
President of the Nigerian Shareholders’ Solidarity Association, Chief Timothy Adesiyan, said the payout reflects management’s consistency and discipline in rewarding investors.
“The board has demonstrated commitment to sustaining returns to shareholders, which is highly commendable,” he said.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Pragmatic Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mrs. Bisi Bakare, described the dividend as historic.
“This is the first time a Nigerian bank is paying as high as N12.76 dividend. We encourage the management to sustain the tempo,” she said.
GTCO had declared an interim dividend of N1.00 per share for the half-year ended June 2025 and a final dividend of N11.76, bringing the total payout to N12.76.
In his remarks, the Board Chairman, Suleiman Barau, said the Group’s transformation into a diversified financial services institution has strengthened its resilience.
“This diversification allows us to operate with greater balance across economic cycles and reduce risk concentration,” he said, adding that the company remains committed to strong risk management and corporate governance.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Segun Agbaje, described the 2025 financial year as a milestone, driven by integration across its banking, payments, asset management and pension businesses.
He also highlighted the company’s listing on the London Stock Exchange as a landmark achievement.
“GTCO is now the first financial services institution in West Africa to list its ordinary shares on the LSE main market,” he said.
Agbaje expressed optimism about the Group’s outlook, noting that it remains “confident, resilient and focused” heading into 2026.
