
Barely a year after a 65-year-old woman identified as Medinatu Ala was clubbed to death right in her room and body parts removed in Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North-East local government area of Ondo State, another 70-year-old mother has been similarly murdered in her room in the early hour of Saturday(yesterday) in Ugbe-Akoko of the same local government.
The aged woman identified as Bosede Yakubu was clubbed to death with a heavy axe. The axe was left stuck to her head by the perpetrators of the evil act while no body part was reportedly removed from her.
Speaking with newsmen, the daughter of the deceased –Silifat Arogundade who is living at St. Stephen Cathedral Church area in Okeruwa explained that she received a shocking call in the early hour of Saturday that her mother was dead.
“My mother who was not sick. I was shocked to see her in the pool of her own blood this morning. Her head was severely cut with an axe. The perpetrators left the axe on her head”, Silifat said.
The deceased’s grandson who lived in the same house with her alongside other tenants explained that nobody knew the exact hour the incident occurred.
According to him, “Mama (the deceased) still cooked rice for me Friday evening. I told her that we should go to vigil in the church but she said there was no vigil. We both entered into the house and I went straight to my own room. I just woke up this morning and went to her room as usual only to discover her lying in the pool of her own blood with an axe stuck to her head.
“This house is about 14 rooms—all occupied by people. No body could say precisely who did the act and how or when they came in.”
The Ondo State Police Command has said the matter would be investigated.
