The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the police and professional institutions to promote public safety, build public trust and enhance effective policing.

Ojajuni said professional bodies and other organised groups had important roles to play in complementing the efforts of security agencies through public enlightenment, credible information dissemination, stakeholder engagement and constructive communication.

He made the remarks while participating in the annual signature event of the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), known as Owanbe Nite, held in Abeokuta.

The development was contained in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babas e yi.

The event, organised under the theme, “Ariya Galore: Celebrating the Spirit of Oneness,” was attended by public relations practitioners, security officials and other prominent personalities, with a focus on celebrating professional excellence, unity and the contributions of public relations to society.

Ojajuni, a member of the institute since 2005, used the occasion to demonstrate his longstanding affiliation with the professional body and his recognition of the strategic importance of public relations in modern policing.

He also highlighted the importance of credible information and public enlightenment in ensuring that members of the public remained properly informed and constructively engaged in matters of public safety.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the latest edition of the chapter’s signature magazine, The Image Maker, which documents the activities, policies and achievements of the Ogun State NIPR, while featuring topical issues and professional perspectives on contemporary public relations practice.

The publication also provides a platform for showcasing the institute’s contributions to professional development and the promotion of responsible communication.
