The Ogun State Police Command on Monday hosted over 150 students of the National Association of Crime Management Students (NACRIMS), Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Chapter, at its headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, to expose them to practical policing and reinforce the campaign against cultism and other social vices.

The educational excursion, attended by lecturers and supervisors from the institution’s Department of Crime Management, was designed to familiarise the students with modern policing, intelligence-led crime prevention and the criminal justice system.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026, saying the initiative was in line with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the community policing agenda of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.

During the visit, the State Coordinator of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, educated the students on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, violent extremism and other emerging crimes, urging them to become ambassadors of peace and responsible citizenship.

According to the statement, the students pledged to reject cultism, drug abuse and all forms of criminality while embracing academic excellence and positive values.

The Command’s Legal Officer, ASP Saheed Abdulganiyu, also took the students through police investigative procedures and the legal framework guiding criminal justice administration, including complaint handling, investigations, protection of suspects’ rights, evidence preservation and prosecution.

Representatives of the Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with educational institutions, describing youth engagement as a vital strategy for preventing crime and building public trust.

In separate goodwill messages, the Head of the Department of Crime Management, Mrs Adeoye K.T., and the President of NACRIMS, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro Chapter, Comrade Makinde Ridwan Ayomide, thanked the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police and the Ogun State Police Command for the opportunity, describing the excursion as highly beneficial to the students’ academic and professional development.
