The Lagos State Police Command and the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, Ikeja, have moved to strengthen collaboration in tackling crime, smuggling and other forms of criminality across the state.

The move followed a courtesy visit by the Acting Comptroller of Customs, FOU Zone ‘A’, Deputy Comptroller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, and members of his team to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.

The visit provided an opportunity for both agencies to reinforce their existing relationship and explore areas of cooperation towards improving security and law enforcement in Lagos State.

The agencies also underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges, particularly those involving smuggling and other criminal activities.

The engagement is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the police and customs in the discharge of their respective responsibilities and efforts to maintain law and order.

The development was contained in a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Command on the courtesy visit.
