The General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority), Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has called on motorists and road users in Lagos State to observe strict road safety rules during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, through the Authority’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Bakare-Oki extended felicitations to Muslim faithful in Lagos and across the world, describing Eid-el-Kabir as a period of “spiritual introspection, sacrificial devotion, unwavering faith, tolerance and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.”

He urged Muslims to uphold values of peace, compassion, selflessness, discipline and harmonious coexistence, noting that these virtues remain central to the significance of the celebration.

Bakare-Oki cautioned motorists, commercial drivers and other road users against reckless driving, excessive speeding, dangerous overtaking, route violations and other traffic infractions capable of causing avoidable crashes and fatalities.

He also warned against driving under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating substances, stressing that such behaviour impairs judgment and endangers lives on the road.

According to him, “unwavering compliance with government-prescribed speed limits, traffic regulations and established road safety protocols remains indispensable to ensuring a peaceful, accident-free and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the State.”

The LASTMA boss disclosed that officers of the agency would be strategically deployed across major highways, traffic corridors and intersections to ensure smooth vehicular movement, strengthen enforcement, and respond promptly to emergencies before, during and after the festivities.

He further appealed for public cooperation with traffic officials and other security agencies, urging residents to obey all traffic laws and safety directives.

Bakare-Oki wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration, praying for continued peace, unity and socioeconomic progress in Lagos State and Nigeria..
