The Boy-Child Transformation Centre (BTC) has announced plans to hold its 5th Anniversary Transformation Summit on May 16, 2026, in Ikoyi, as part of efforts to address growing concerns over the development and well-being of the boy-child.
The organisation said the summit, scheduled to take place in Lagos, will convene corporate leaders, policymakers, educators, parents and mental health advocates to examine what it described as a “silent crisis” affecting boys and its implications for families, communities and future leadership.
A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood, a book authored by BTC Founder, Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel, who is also the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Avenu Growth Consulting Group.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Moghalu-Joel said the initiative seeks to challenge harmful societal expectations that discourage emotional expression among boys.
“For too long, the world has operated on a dangerous default—assuming the boy-child will simply figure it out on his own. He is not figuring it out; he is quietly collapsing in plain sight,” she said.
She warned that neglecting the emotional development of boys poses wider societal risks. “When we deny our boys emotional literacy, we are not just failing our sons; we are destabilising our homes, fracturing our communities and eroding our future leadership,” she added.
The summit will also feature the grand finale of the Walk-in-My-Shoes (WIMS) Challenge, where young participants are expected to present solutions to societal pressures affecting boys, with the winner to receive a ₦1 million prize.
BTC noted that the event is aimed at shifting the conversation on the boy-child from advocacy to practical, solution-driven interventions.
