In a bold push to strengthen workplace cohesion and boost employee morale, JMG Limited and Jamara Home, in collaboration with branches of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and the Steel and Engineering Workers’ Union of Nigeria (SEWUN), have hosted a maiden Staff Sporting Festival aimed at fostering unity, wellness, and cross-team engagement.

The event, which brought together staff across different departments in a lively atmosphere, featured football, chess, board games, and other recreational activities designed to encourage teamwork, healthy competition, and interpersonal bonding beyond the workplace.

Employees were grouped into four teams, with each side displaying enthusiasm, energy, and a strong sense of camaraderie throughout the tournament. The festival created a relaxed environment where staff were able to unwind, interact freely, and build stronger professional relationships outside routine work schedules.

Participants described the initiative as refreshing and impactful, noting that it provided a rare opportunity to reconnect with colleagues across functions while promoting mental wellness and team spirit. Many commended management and partner unions for prioritising staff welfare through initiatives that place people at the centre of organisational growth.

Speaking at the event, Chief Commercial Officer of JMG Limited, Rabi Jammal, said the sporting festival went beyond competition, describing it as a platform for connection and shared energy among staff. He noted that the level of participation reflected a strong organisational culture and expressed satisfaction with the unity displayed across teams.

Also speaking, the Chief Human Resources Officer, Gloria Ibeziako, said the turnout and engagement underscored the importance of intentional team-building initiatives in the workplace. She stressed that strong relationships remain central to productivity and organisational success, adding that employees are the foundation of any thriving institution.

According to the organisers, the success of the maiden edition reflects a shared commitment by both organisations to building an inclusive and people-driven workplace culture that encourages collaboration, wellbeing, and belonging.

JMG Limited operates across power generation, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, vertical transportation, air compressors, and renewable energy solutions, while Jamara Home offers a wide range of household appliances including televisions, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, cooking appliances, and power solutions.

Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining initiatives that promote employee engagement, teamwork, and a healthier work environment across all levels of their operations.
