Fidelity Mobile App simplifies everyday banking transactions

By Adebola Muili

The Fidelity Mobile App enables customers to carry out routine banking transactions, including money transfers, bill payments, airtime purchases and debit card requests, without visiting a bank branch, as the lender expands digital options for everyday financial needs.

The application also supports eligible cross-border payments through the Pan African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), allowing customers to initiate supported transactions in Naira while beneficiaries receive the applicable local currency in their countries.

Fidelity Bank disclosed this in a statement highlighting how mobile banking can help customers manage their finances more conveniently while saving time that would otherwise be spent travelling to bank branches and waiting in queues.

According to the bank, the application provides access to several banking services, including account balance enquiries, mini statements, transfers and payments for supported bills.

The bank explained that these services enable customers to handle routine financial obligations while attending to their businesses, work and family responsibilities.

It noted that business owners could use the application to make payments to suppliers without leaving their shops, while other customers could settle bills, purchase airtime or confirm transactions from convenient locations.

The application also allows eligible customers to initiate debit card requests by selecting an account, choosing an available card option and providing delivery details, subject to applicable issuance and delivery conditions.

On cross-border transactions, the bank said the application provides access to PAPSS for eligible customers, supporting payments across available African payment corridors.

The service can facilitate qualifying business payments, school-related obligations and financial support to family members in participating African markets, subject to applicable transaction requirements, charges and terms.

However, Fidelity Bank stressed the importance of security in digital banking, urging customers to protect their login credentials and never disclose their personal identification numbers or one-time passwords to others.

Customers were also advised to download or update the application through official app stores, verify beneficiary details and transaction amounts before authorising transfers, and check account activity regularly for unfamiliar transactions.

The bank further advised customers to confirm relevant payment references before completing bill payments and promptly investigate any suspicious account activity.

It maintained that the convenience of mobile banking must be accompanied by responsible use and attention to transaction details to minimise avoidable errors and security risks.

The lender also noted that mobile banking was not intended to replace other banking channels, stressing that customers could continue to use branches, relationship managers and USSD services, depending on their needs and circumstances.

It said the integration of digital and physical banking channels would give customers greater flexibility in choosing how to access financial services.

The bank added that the value of mobile banking lies in its ability to make routine transactions easier to complete, allowing customers to devote more time to their businesses, personal commitments and other daily activities.
