Lagos Unveils Digital Dashboard to Fast-Track Development Projects

The Lagos State Government has introduced a digital tracking system aimed at accelerating the delivery of government projects and strengthening the implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052.

The initiative was unveiled on Tuesday during a Stakeholders’ Parley on the implementation of the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 held at Protea Hotel, Ikeja. The meeting brought together Permanent Secretaries, Planning Officers from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as development partners to assess progress, address implementation challenges and agree on strategies to improve project delivery.

The government, in a statement, said the newly launched LSDP 2052 Tracking Dashboard would enable the state to monitor projects, measure the performance of MDAs, identify delays early and support informed decision-making to ensure the successful execution of the 30-year development blueprint.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Ope George, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Lekan Balogun, described the development plan as the state’s long-term roadmap for building a safer, more prosperous and better organised Lagos.

He stressed that the effectiveness of the plan would depend largely on its implementation rather than its design.

“The Plan itself recognizes that implementation is the true measure of success. While it sets out over 400 strategic initiatives, its impact depends on sustained financing, integration into government planning and budgeting, active stakeholder participation and robust monitoring.

“The future of Lagos will not be determined by the quality of our plans alone. It will be determined by the quality of our execution,” George said.

He urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies to strengthen collaboration, improve reporting mechanisms and focus on delivering measurable results that would directly benefit residents.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs Olayinka Ojo, said the stakeholders’ meeting was convened to ensure that the state’s development plan translates into concrete projects rather than remaining a policy document.

According to her, the commitment and leadership of accounting officers and heads of government agencies would determine how quickly the objectives of the development plan are achieved.

“As Accounting Officers and heads of government agencies, your leadership, commitment and ability to mainstream the initiatives into annual work plans, sector strategies and budget implementation will ultimately determine the pace at which Lagos achieves the objectives of the Development Plan,” she said.

Ojo also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for what she described as his long-term vision for the state, citing projects such as the Massey Children’s Hospital, the proposed Lekki International Airport and the Lekki Deep Sea Port as strategic investments expected to improve healthcare, transportation, trade and economic growth.

Also speaking, Balogun disclosed that the Lagos State Development Plan contains 447 initiatives, with 287 scheduled for implementation between 2022 and 2030.

He said the stakeholders’ parley was organised to help government agencies review their responsibilities, strengthen inter-agency collaboration and agree on practical steps for delivering projects that require joint implementation.

Balogun added that residents were already benefiting from aspects of the development plan through improvements in education, healthcare, transportation, security and tourism, noting that more projects would be delivered in the coming years.

The Lagos State Development Plan 2052, launched in 2022, serves as the state’s 30-year blueprint for infrastructure development, job creation, improved public service delivery and the promotion of a more competitive and sustainable economy.
