APC unveils national campaign council for Osun governorship poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the composition of its National Campaign Council and specialised sub-committees for the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

The announcement was contained in a press statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, July 26, 2026, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, following a notice signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

According to the statement, the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will chair the National Campaign Council. The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, will serve as co-chairmen.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, was named Deputy Chairman, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will serve as Secretary of the council.

Morka said the council comprises eminent party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state legislators, and other key stakeholders drawn from across the country to drive the party’s campaign ahead of the election.

He added that the APC had also constituted specialised sub-committees covering election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, contact, grassroots engagement and mobilisation, logistics and campaign management, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, women’s mobilisation and secretariat functions.

The statement further disclosed that the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees would be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, beginning at 12 noon.

Morka said the committees were constituted “to ensure seamless coordination and effective execution of campaign activities” as the party intensifies preparations for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
