A stationary saloon car was on Thursday destroyed by fire at the Polaris Bank Tower on Broad Street, Lagos Island, but prompt intervention by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service prevented the blaze from spreading to other vehicles and parts of the building.
The incident occurred on the third floor of the 17-storey building, which serves as a parking facility.
The Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the fire was reported at about 11:33 a.m.

According to her, firefighters from the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations responded swiftly to the emergency and brought the situation under control before it could escalate.
“Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations promptly responded to the emergency and swiftly contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other vehicles and sections of the building,” Adeseye said.
She noted that only the affected vehicle and its immediate surroundings were damaged, while no casualty or injury was recorded.
Adeseye added that the firefighting operation had been successfully concluded and normalcy restored to the area.
