Ogun Police tighten security ahead of eid-el-kabir celebration

The Ogun State Police Command has strengthened security arrangements across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, assuring residents of adequate protection of lives and property during the festive period.

The Command said it had deployed personnel and operational assets to Eid prayer grounds, highways, markets, motor parks, recreational centres, residential areas and other strategic public locations to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the proactive security measures were aimed at ensuring visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection and rapid response to security challenges before, during and after the festivities.

“The deployment is aimed at ensuring visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection, and swift response to any emerging security concerns before, during, and after the celebration,” the statement said.

According to the Command, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders across the state have been placed on heightened alert and directed to intensify patrols, conduct stop-and-search operations where necessary and maintain round-the-clock supervision of officers deployed for the operation.

The police also said officers had been instructed to work closely with community leaders, transport unions and other stakeholders to boost intelligence gathering and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

While urging residents to celebrate peacefully, the Command warned against thuggery, cult-related activities, reckless driving and other acts capable of disturbing public peace.

Parents and guardians were also advised to monitor the movement and activities of their children and wards throughout the festive period.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and public safety, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines or the nearest police formation.
