Hamzat presents APC primary results to Tinubu, signals post-primary consolidation in Lagos

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has formally presented the results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following his emergence as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.

The presentation, which was confirmed on Saturday through Hamzat’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, came shortly after his declaration as winner of the APC primary conducted across Lagos State.

He was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, as part of post-primary engagements within the ruling party.

Although details of the closed-door discussions were not disclosed, the meeting is widely regarded as part of ongoing consultations and internal alignment within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hamzat, in a post shared after the visit, said the engagement was to formally present the outcome of the party’s primary election to the President.

“My wife, Oluremi, and I visited His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to present the official results of the Lagos APC gubernatorial primary,” he wrote.

He described his emergence as the party’s candidate as both a privilege and a responsibility, pledging renewed commitment to inclusive governance and sustained development in Lagos State.

“I remain deeply grateful for the trust placed in me. Securing the party’s nomination for the 2027 governorship election is both an honour and a profound responsibility,” he stated.

Hamzat added that his administration would remain focused on expanding opportunities across the state.

“We are working every single day to ensure that our state remains a place where every family can thrive, every business can grow, and every young person can find real opportunities,” he said.

He also appreciated party members and supporters for their confidence, noting that the journey ahead would be focused on translating shared aspirations into tangible progress for Lagos residents.

“The energy and trust you have placed in this vision mean everything to us. The journey ahead is about turning that shared hope into meaningful progress for everyone,” he added.
