Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated elder statesman and Governance Advisory Council (GAC) member, Busura Alebiosu, on his 90th birthday, describing him as a stabilising force and one of the enduring pillars of Lagos politics.

Alebiosu, who turns 90 on Friday, is the Otunba Gbelegbuwa of Ijebuland and Chairman of the Council of Otunbas of Ijebuland.

In a statement issued Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu said the nonagenarian has played a defining role in the evolution of Lagos politics, particularly in the Fourth Republic.

He noted that Alebiosu, widely known as “Bush of Africa,” has remained consistent in public service, with a political career spanning about five decades, including his time as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Somolu/Kosofe Constituency.

The governor said the GAC member had been actively involved in the state’s political journey from the administration of former governor Michael Otedola, through the aborted Third Republic, to the current democratic dispensation.

“He is one of our leading lights. I see Baba Bush as a stabiliser—a man with tremendous experience and a wealth of knowledge. More importantly, he is calm, respectable yet humble,” Sanwo-Olu was quoted as saying.

He added that Alebiosu embodies rare leadership qualities and has continued to command respect across the state’s political landscape.

Sanwo-Olu also prayed for continued good health and sound mind for the elder statesman, expressing hope that his legacy of service and leadership would remain a source of inspiration to future generations.
