The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has appointed and decorated the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, as a Special Traffic Mayor to boost traffic advocacy and compliance in the state.
The decoration, which took place at his office, was performed by the Team Lead, Traffic Advocacy and Special Traffic Mayor Department of LASTMA, Jimmy Awoyemi, in the presence of officials of the agency and the ministry’s management team.
Awoyemi said the initiative is designed to enlist top public officials in promoting traffic discipline, noting that Special Traffic Mayors are expected to use their offices to support enforcement efforts and sensitise road users.
Responding, Olayinka commended LASTMA and the Ministry of Transportation for the initiative, describing it as a strategic step towards addressing traffic challenges in Lagos.
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by supporting traffic management efforts and working closely with relevant authorities to improve road orderliness.
According to him, the initiative will help curb traffic infractions and enhance free flow of vehicles across the Lagos metropolis.
