Ondo 2020: Boroffice, 7 Unity Forum Aspirants regroup to unseat Akeredolu

The Leaders of the factional group of All Progressives Congress and governorship Aspirants under aegis of the APC Unity Forum in Ondo state have set aside their recent political differences to start restrategizing for the July 20 party’s primaries ahead of October 10, 2020 governorship election in the state.

It was gathered, according to the Sunshinetruth, that as part of the strategies to unseat the incumbent Governor Akeredolu, all the APC Unity Forum aspirants and the Senate Deputy Majority Leader, Prof Ajayi Boroffice (from Ondo North) met in Abuja at the weekend to appeal to one another to embrace peace aftermath the selection of Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) as the group’s consensus candidate to face the incumbent Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Hon Isaacs Kekemeke who are not members of the forum.

Those said to have present at the Abuja meeting were; Engr Ifeoluwa Oyedele, Chief Olayide Adelami, Barr Bukola Adetula, Mr Jimi Odimayo, Barr Olarenwaju Kazeem, Prince Dapo Adelegan, Chief Oke and Senator Boroffice.

Three out of the ten Unity Forum aspirants who boycotted the meeting were; Dr Olusegun Abraham, Mrs Jumoke Anifowose-Ajasin and Akin Awodeyi Akinterinwa.

Also, the chairman of the Unity Forum, Alhaji Alli Olanusi who is a former Deputy Governor of the state, who they said was not expected was not at the meeting

A source confirmed that APC governorship aspirants under the auspices of the Unity Forum met at Apo Apartment, opposite Apo Legislative quarters Abuja to further discuss the possibility of presenting one of them as the consensus candidate of the forum to contest the primary election of the party scheduled for 20th of July, 2020.

The source said, “the meeting which held at the instance of the Senator representing Ondo North, Prof Robert Ajayi Boroffice was meant to further encourage the aspirants on the need to produce a consensus among them.

The source also said there was no agreeable decision on who to pick as their consensus candidate to face Akeredolu and Kekemeke.

“The meeting which lasted for three hours ended with the aspirants still trying to agree among themselves as the process of a possible consensus is still ongoing,” the source concluded.
