Ondo PDP clears air over former chairman’s bribery allegations

…Says its Chairman, Faboyede didn’t collect money from Akeredolu’s Govt

The Ondo state Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has denied the allegation making rounds that its former State Chairman Engr. Clement Faboyede had collected money from the APC led government of Ondo State.

The party described the allegation published by a member of the party, Engr. Johnson. J. Alabi in which he accused Faboyede of demanding money from the Ondo State Government as unfounded and falsehood.

This was contained in a Press Statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Zadok Akintoye, saying its Chairman, Faboyede who is the current Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the party didn’t collect Money from Akeredolu’s government.

The party said that Faboyede’s open approach to the Akeredolu’s government was on the payment of party’s deductions made by the current government on salaries of former political appointees who served under Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The party’s statement said the Ondo State government has refused to pay the money, which lawfully belongs to the PDP.

Akintoye said, no government would credit the account of an individual with funds belonging to a political party.

“A cursory visit or enquiry to our Board of Trustee members, the Elders Committee, members of the former State Executive Committee, members of the present Caretaker Committee and the office of the States Accountant-General of the state, would have easily clarified that this money has not been paid

“Indeed if it had been paid, we would naturally expect that the (Oluwarotimi Akeredolu) APC-LED ODSG would have made it a very public story to score political points as we approach the campaigns.”

Ondo PDP opined, “we appeal to divisive interests within the party to focus on doing all that is needful to unite the party members for us to win the next election.

“The general public and members of the party should disregard the falsehood contained in the statement and are encouraged to approach the office of the Accountant General of the state for clarification, if needed.”
