JMG Advocates Clean Energy, Better Waste Management

JMG Limited has called for greater commitment to effective waste management and cleaner energy adoption as part of efforts to protect the environment and build a healthier society.

The electro-mechanical company made the call yesterday, Sunday, September 20, as the world marked World Cleanup Day, with this year’s theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities.”

The theme focuses attention on food waste, responsible consumption, the circular economy and sustainable urban waste management, areas JMG said require collective action from individuals, businesses and communities.

According to the company, environmental sustainability should go beyond clean-up exercises to include deliberate choices around energy generation and consumption.

JMG said its sustainability efforts combine community-based environmental initiatives with cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.

The company recalled that its management and employees last year joined residents of Gbagada, Lagos, in a clean-up exercise aimed at removing waste, encouraging proper waste separation and promoting shared responsibility for the environment.

It said its environmental interventions also include the installation of a solar hybrid power system at the Agboyi-Ketu Primary Health Care Centre in Lagos, providing electricity for critical services such as emergency care, maternity services, immunisation and diagnostics.

Speaking on the company’s approach to environmental sustainability, Chief Commercial Officer, JMG Limited, Rabi Jammal, said the company’s sustainability drive was centred on the use of innovation and technology to improve lives and protect the environment.

“At JMG, our approach to sustainability is deeply human-centred, with a responsibility to apply innovation and technology,” Jammal said.

He added that the company’s commitment to sustainability formed part of its broader effort to support communities while promoting environmentally responsible solutions.

JMG urged businesses, communities and individuals to look beyond the visible signs of pollution and examine the habits and systems contributing to environmental degradation.

The company said its operations cover power generation, electrical infrastructure, vertical transportation, cooling systems and air compressors, while its solar and hybrid energy solutions are aimed at supporting sustainable development and Nigeria’s industrial growth.
