The House of Assembly candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Akure South Local Government Constituency 1, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan has enjoined his teaming supporters to be focused following shift in the elections date, saying nothing has changed but date.
Adeniyan who said this while chatting with the Kakaki Newspot on Monday expressed disappointment in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC saying he has lost confidence in the electoral body over the postponed election. He said though INEC is naturally one of the opponents to candidates of the opposition parties but will be given benefit of doubt to be fair to all.
He said, “when you are an opposition candidate, INEC is always one of your opponents and major challenges. However, we are willing to give them benefit of the doubt that they can still be fair to all.”
He also lamented the poor state of the nation and her democracy.”We are long way from a developing democracy. There is nothing developing in our democracy. It’s often one step forward, two steps backwards”
The House Assembly Candidate who is the publisher of the Trace News Magazine stressed that Nigeria country has become a laughing stock across the world. Saying “How many countries, even in Africa, experience what we just saw last weekend? The country is not moving in the right direction.
Adeniyan who promised the people of his constituency a robust and quality representation if voted for, however enjoined Nigerians to rise up and defend their country by coming out to vote on February 23rd and March 9th to elect the candidates of their choice.
