Narrating the ordeals staggers of the council workers, a member of the staff of the local government, Mrs Grace Atanlogun said they are passing horrible experiences on daily basis in getting to work.

Mrs Atalongun who disclosed to Akoko Herald that majority of the workers live in Arigidi Akoko, some few metres to the council Secretariat stated that it has continued to be agonising getting to work.

According to her, it takes almost 45 minutes to get to Okeagbe from Arigidi, a journey which would have been ordinarily not take than five minutes to complete.

“It takes longer time to get to the office. Ordinarily if the road is good, we won’t spend more than five minutes.”

According to her, those who chose to ply the road charge exorbitant prices and most often they use to stand at the roadside for hours before getting vehicle to convey them.

“Most times we don’t get vehicles to take us to Okeagbe because commercial vehicles are no longer plying here. Those that ply the road often charge high prices.

“We use to stay on the roadside for several hours. We would go there as early as 8.00am and it will take hours to get vehicle. Sometimes we stay there until 11.00am before we get any vehicle to convey us to Okeagbe”

In the same vein, another worker, Mr Victor Samuel said most of the staffers have abandoned their cars at home because they have broken down and those who still have good ones could not come to work with them for fear of being damaged.

He however appealed to the state government to extend the rehabilitation works currently going on at the Owo/Ikare road to Okeagbe to make going to work east for civil servants in the area.

Aribisala said all the roads in Okeagbe and environs are bad making movement a difficult task.

“The roads are bad and the only profession we are known for which is farming is no longer attractive because even when you farm there is no road to bring your farm products to the market to sell.

He however appealed to the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to extend the current road rehabilitation projects to Okeagbe and other towns in the local government.

When newsmen visited the ArigidiAkoko/Okeagbe/Afin 1and Okeagbe/Umuo Ekiti roads they are all in a deplorable condition.

The roads have been taken over by gullies that cut the roads in to parts while potholes are all over thereby making the roads almost impassable.
