The former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, has arrived the Wuse 2 office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC in “EFCC I am here” inscribed T-shirt.
Fayose who thanked the people of Ekiti State on his Twitter handled wall early today noted that as he bowed out after serving two terms as their governor, making unprecedented impacts, he placed them under the protection of the Almighty God praying that God’s grace will never depart them.
The embattled Governor, whose tenure expired today, is under investigation for allegedly receiving N1.3bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser through the then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikiro and other related financial and economic offences.
It could be recalled that Fayose had promised to make himself available to the commission after handing over to the new elected governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, however, he did in a dramatic way amidst people doubt that he might run away.
Fayose who announced his arrival at the EFCC office via his Twitter handled was accompanied by governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Chief Femi Fanikayode, Deji Adeyanju, Lere Olayinka and host of notable PDP leaders and loyalists. He said now that he’s in the custody of EFCC, his media aide, Lere Olayinka will operate this twitter handled.
Meanwhile armed EFCC operatives was reported to have invaded the Abuja residence of the immediate past Governor yesterday to prevent him from running away. The operatives was said to have surrounded his house with three of their ‘hilux’ vehicles parked around his residence.
Noticing this development, Fayose took to his Twitter handled saying “It is known to the public that I offered to make myself available at the EFCC office today. However, as I write, there are strange movements around my residence and I’m aware of planned invasion any moment from now. Despite this, I’ll be at the commission’s office tomorrow as promised.”
He however Challenged APC and President Buhari’s men that have been accused of corruption to also be bold enough to submit themselves to the commission for investigation.”I’m a man who stands by his words and I hope that after today, those President Buhari’s men that have been accused of corruption will also be bold enough to submit themselves to the commission for investigation.
