JMG Limited has called for stronger adherence to quality standards in Nigeria’s clean energy transition, stressing that energy solutions must be safe, reliable and durable to deliver the expected benefits to consumers and businesses.
The company made the call during its participation in the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) 2026 World Standards Day Walk in Lagos on Saturday, October 17, where it highlighted the importance of quality standards in advancing access to affordable and clean energy.
Members of JMG’s Production Team joined the walk, which focused on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), aimed at ensuring access to affordable, reliable and modern energy for all.
The event, held under the theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy,” commenced at 7:30 a.m. at the SON Laboratory Complex in Ogba, Lagos.

JMG stressed that Nigeria’s clean energy ambitions must go beyond expanding access to energy to ensuring that equipment and systems deployed across homes, businesses and industrial facilities meet appropriate quality and safety requirements.
It noted that the performance of solar energy systems, power generation equipment, electrical infrastructure and cooling solutions depends partly on sound engineering, proper installation and consistent quality practices.
Speaking at the event, Fouad El Chami, Plant Manager, JMG/Jamara, said quality standards should be integrated into every stage of production to ensure that products meet the required specifications and perform as intended.
“Standards are not just requirements to be met; they help ensure that products are safe, dependable and fit for purpose. Quality must be considered from the beginning of the production process because it influences how a product performs and how confidently people can rely on it,” he said.
El Chami added that as Nigeria explores opportunities to expand access to cleaner energy, adherence to quality standards would be essential to ensuring that investments in energy solutions deliver lasting value.
According to him, affordability must be balanced with reliability, safety and performance to ensure that equipment and systems meet the needs for which they are designed.
“Affordable energy is important, but affordability must also be considered alongside reliability, safety and performance. The equipment and systems supporting Nigeria’s energy needs must be suitable for their intended use and meet the appropriate quality requirements. This is why standards and responsible production practices matter,” he said.
The company said its participation in the walk reflected its support for SON’s efforts to promote a stronger quality culture across Nigerian industries and encourage greater attention to product safety, performance and consumer protection.
JMG provides electromechanical solutions covering power generation, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, elevators and escalators, and air compressors.
It emphasised that manufacturers, solution providers and other industry stakeholders have important roles to play in strengthening consumer confidence through compliance with quality standards and responsible production practices.
The company maintained that strong quality standards would remain important to ensuring that Nigeria’s transition towards cleaner energy delivers reliable and sustainable benefits to consumers, businesses and industries. Urges Stronger Quality Standards for Nigeria’s Clean Energy Transition
