The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has honoured a retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, DST Anifa Bello Abiodun, with an Award of Recognition and cash support for her outstanding service to the Nigeria Police Force.

The presentation was made on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where Disu commended the retired officer for her professionalism, discipline, resilience and dedication to traffic management during her years of service with the Ogun State Police Command, particularly in Abeokuta.

Bello Abiodun, throughout her career, distinguished herself through her commitment to duty and consistent service to members of the public, earning the appreciation and goodwill of residents and road users in the communities where she served.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, on Thursday, the retired officer’s dedication to duty culminated in public recognition of her service.

Speaking during the presentation, Disu said members of the public appreciate the police when officers discharge their responsibilities professionally and responsibly.

The IGP noted that public dissatisfaction was often directed at misconduct by individual officers rather than the institution itself, expressing satisfaction that Bello Abiodun had earned the respect and recognition of the community she served.

He said the Nigeria Police Force would continue to hold personnel accountable for misconduct while also recognising and rewarding officers who demonstrate professionalism, integrity and exemplary service.

Disu added that such recognition would reinforce the values expected of police personnel and encourage others to distinguish themselves through dedicated service.

The Inspector-General reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to promoting accountability, rewarding exemplary conduct and recognising personnel whose dedication to duty strengthens public confidence and contributes meaningfully to policing and service to communities across the country.
