The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of three nominees as members of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, while deferring the consideration of two others pending further scrutiny.
The confirmation was made during plenary on Thursday, July 23, 2026, presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.
The decision followed the presentation of the report of the 12-member Ad-hoc Committee on the Screening of Nominees by the committee’s Chairman and Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Mojeed Fatai.
According to the committee’s report, the Assembly confirmed the appointments of Mr. Bamgbola Hakeem, Mr. Olaleye Shamsideen and Mrs. Olabanji Folashade after finding them qualified to serve as members of the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission.
However, the House stepped down the nominations of Mr. Durosinmi Yinka Mursiq and Mr. Seriki Ahmed to allow for further scrutiny before taking a final decision on their appointments.
Following the adoption of the committee’s report, the Assembly approved the appointments of the three nominees and directed that the deferred nominations be revisited after the conclusion of the additional review process.
The House said the decision underscored its commitment to ensuring that “only competent and qualified individuals are entrusted with public responsibilities,” in line with its constitutional mandate of oversight and good governance.
