The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has charged officers and men of the Ifo Area Command to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication to duty as part of efforts to strengthen security and public confidence in policing across the state.

Ojajuni gave the charge on Sunday, July 19, 2026, during his strategic familiarisation tour of the Ifo Area Command, where he met with traditional rulers, local government officials, security agencies and community leaders to reinforce intelligence-led policing and community partnerships.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who said the visit was aimed at enhancing operational synergy, sustaining peace and improving public safety across the Ifo axis.

The Commissioner began the visit at the palace of the Olu of Itori, HRM Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, who commended the police boss for consolidating on the achievements of his predecessors in protecting lives and property.

The monarch noted that improved policing had restored confidence among residents, saying people could now “sleep at night without fear.”

Responding, Ojajuni thanked the traditional ruler for supporting officers serving in the area and pledged that the Command would sustain proactive and intelligence-driven policing through Operation Kosaye. He also appealed to traditional institutions to continue providing credible local intelligence capable of preventing crime.

The police chief later paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olorile of Orile Ifo, HRM Oba Abdul Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, where he underscored the importance of stronger collaboration between the police and communities in tackling insecurity.

The monarch, while welcoming the Commissioner, described the visit as an “August visit in July” and praised his proactive leadership, assuring him of the community’s continued support for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.

At the Ifo Area Command Headquarters, Ojajuni was received by the Area Commander, ACP Williams Oluwaseyi, alongside officers and men of the Command. Also present were the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, the State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Abdullah Lawal, traditional rulers, community leaders and representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), So-Safe Corps, Forest Guards and the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board.

Addressing the stakeholders, the Commissioner commended the existing collaboration between security agencies and the local government, noting that the synergy had helped to effectively address security challenges in the area despite its large population.

He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain the successes of Operation Kosaye, declaring that Ogun State would remain inaccessible to criminal elements.

“Ogun State remains hostile to criminal elements. The Command will continue to deny criminals any operating space within the state and along its borders,” he said.

Ojajuni also introduced stakeholders to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), describing it as the Nigeria Police Force’s flagship non-kinetic crime prevention initiative. He urged residents to continue using the Gateway Shield digital platform to report suspicious activities, assuring them that all credible information would receive prompt attention.

In his address to officers and men of the Area Command, the Commissioner urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force by maintaining the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, commended the Commissioner for the operational achievements recorded since assuming office and pledged the council’s continued support for the police in ensuring lasting peace and security.

Ojajuni concluded by reaffirming the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to strengthening intelligence-led policing, deepening community partnerships and protecting lives, property and investments through proactive and professional policing across the state.
