Ojajuni seeks stronger security collaboration in Ota, inspects industrial facilities

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has called for stronger collaboration among traditional institutions, security agencies, community leaders and residents to sustain peace and combat crime in Ota, one of the state’s major industrial and commercial hubs.

Ojajuni made the call during a strategic familiarisation tour of the Ota Area Command on Saturday, where he engaged stakeholders, assessed security architecture in key industries and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the protection of critical national assets.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta, saying the visit formed part of the Commissioner’s statewide tour to strengthen operational effectiveness, deepen community policing and enhance collaboration with critical stakeholders.

The Commissioner, accompanied by members of the Command Management Team, first visited the palace of the Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Abdul Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, where he appreciated the monarch and other traditional rulers for their continued support to the Nigeria Police Force.

He noted that the cordial relationship between the traditional institution and the police had contributed significantly to the prevailing peace in the area and pledged to strengthen collaboration in advancing community policing.

In his remarks, the Olota commended the Commissioner for the operational successes recorded since assuming office, particularly through Operation Kosaye, which he described as a major boost to security across Ogun State.

At the stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ota Area Command headquarters, Ojajuni described policing as a collective responsibility and urged residents, community leaders and security agencies to intensify intelligence sharing and cooperation to curb criminal activities.

He said the successes recorded under Operation Kosaye had demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in denying criminals the opportunity to operate within the Lagos-Ogun corridor.

The Commissioner also introduced stakeholders to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), describing it as a preventive initiative aimed at tackling cultism, drug abuse, youth violence and other social vices through advocacy, mentorship and community engagement.

He further unveiled Gateway Shield, the Ogun State Police Command’s digital security platform, urging residents to report crimes, submit anonymous intelligence and activate emergency distress alerts through the application.

According to him, “Timely information from members of the public remains indispensable to effective policing,” assuring residents that all credible reports would receive prompt and professional attention.

As part of the visit, Ojajuni inspected security facilities at Sona Group of Industries, where he commended the company’s contribution to employment generation and economic development, noting that job creation remains a key factor in crime reduction.

The Commissioner also visited The Papilon Company Limited and Geepee Company Limited to assess their security systems and encouraged sustained investment in security infrastructure, emergency preparedness and information sharing with law enforcement agencies.

Responding, Chairman of Sona Group of Industries, Mr A.K. Mirchandani, commended the Ogun State Police Command for its professionalism and commitment to safeguarding lives, property and investments, while reaffirming the company’s support for the police.

Ojajuni reiterated that the Ogun State Police Command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led policing, enhance inter-agency collaboration and deepen community partnerships to ensure the safety of residents, businesses and investments across the state.
