The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Abraham Aneka, over alleged defilement, criminal intimidation and attempted robbery involving a 16-year-old girl in Abule-Ijoko area of the state.

The suspect was arrested by detectives of Agbado Division following an intelligence-driven operation, during which a locally made single-barrel firearm allegedly used to threaten the victim was recovered.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Oluseyi B. Babasuyi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the incident was reported at Agbado Division in the early hours of June 10, 2026, by a family member of the victim.

Babasuyi said the victim was allegedly accosted by the suspect on the night of June 9 while returning home, adding that the suspect, armed with a locally made firearm, allegedly threatened her before taking her to his residence in Abule-Ijoko.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives of Agbado Division immediately launched a coordinated response. The suspect was promptly tracked, arrested, and the firearm allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered,” he stated.

According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent and attempted to dispossess her of her belongings.

He added that the victim had been issued a medical form and taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment, while the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, assured residents that the Command would continue to maintain zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, especially offences involving minors.

“The Command will ensure diligent prosecution and justice in line with extant laws,” Ojajuni said.

The police commissioner also urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse, violence or suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.

The suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigation and subsequent prosecution.
