Husband allegedly kills 25-year-old wife in Ado-Ekiti, flees scene

A 25-year-old woman, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, has allegedly been killed by her husband, Ibrahim Sodiq, during a domestic dispute in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The incident occurred at about 6:50 a.m. on Wednesday in the Dalimore area of the city, according to information gathered by The Hope.

Sodiq, popularly known as Alfa Eleran and said to be a meat seller, allegedly attacked his wife with a cutlass during an argument over unresolved marital differences.

It was gathered that the couple had gone to the residence of Lamidi Salawu, a friend of the deceased’s father, who had reportedly offered to mediate in the couple’s troubled marriage.

However, the attempt at reconciliation allegedly turned violent when the disagreement between the couple escalated into a physical confrontation.

Sources familiar with the incident said Sodiq allegedly used a cutlass to inflict multiple injuries on his wife, leading to her death at the scene.

The suspect was said to have fled the scene shortly after the incident, while efforts were reportedly made to apprehend him.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately clear, while the deceased’s body was reportedly taken away following the incident.

Further details, including the police response and efforts to arrest the suspect, were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.
