A high-powered Federal Government delegation dispatched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The delegation, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu; the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa; the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe; and other top government officials.
According to information made available to journalists, the team is in Ogbomoso on a fact-finding and security assessment mission aimed at evaluating the situation on the ground, engaging with affected communities, and coordinating the Federal Government’s response to the incident.
The visit comes amid heightened concerns over the safety of the abducted pupils and teachers, with security agencies intensifying efforts to secure their release.
Sources said the delegation is expected to interact with community leaders, security operatives and relevant stakeholders as part of measures to strengthen ongoing rescue operations and prevent future occurrences.
The Federal Government’s intervention is seen as a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing security challenges and ensuring the safe return of all victims affected by the abduction.
