Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday celebrated the seventh anniversary of his administration, thanking Lagos residents for their support and describing the journey so far as one of shared sacrifice, resilience and collective progress.
The governor also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his third anniversary in office, commending his leadership and commitment to Nigeria’s development.
Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, said the achievements recorded by his administration were made possible through the trust, patience and partnership of Lagosians.
“Seven years ago, we began this journey with a clear vision to build a Greater Lagos that works for all. Today, I salute every Lagosian for the trust, patience, and partnership you have shown,” the governor said.
He noted that his administration had recorded milestones in infrastructure, healthcare, education, transportation, youth empowerment and urban renewal projects across the five divisions of the state.
According to him, despite global economic shocks, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other social challenges, the administration remained committed to the implementation of its THEMES+ Agenda.
Sanwo-Olu assured residents that his government would complete ongoing projects and initiate new programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
“As we mark this seventh anniversary, I want to assure Lagosians that the best is yet to come. We will not rest on our oars. We will do more in providing quality roads, affordable housing, reliable healthcare, world-class education, and a secure environment where businesses can thrive,” he added.
The governor called on residents to continue supporting government policies and programmes geared towards sustainable development, while also urging private sector players and development partners to strengthen collaboration with the state government.
He also praised President Tinubu, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda had supported Lagos State’s progress in critical sectors such as infrastructure, health, education and empowerment.
In a separate message posted on his verified social media handles, Sanwo-Olu congratulated Tinubu on his third year in office, describing him as a courageous and visionary leader.
“Today, I join millions of Nigerians in congratulating His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on his third anniversary in office,” he wrote.
“Mr. President, your courage and unwavering belief in the promise of Nigeria continue to inspire many of us who have had the privilege of learning from your leadership over the years.”
The governor added that despite the challenges of leading a complex nation like Nigeria, Tinubu had continued to demonstrate courage and resolve in governance.
“We stand with you, Mr. President, as we continue working to build the future our people deserve,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu further said his administration had presented its stewardship to Lagosians through ministerial press briefings held over the past one month.
He also appreciated civil servants, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress for their contributions to the growth and development of Lagos State.
