…We’re Determined To Pursue The Cause Of Western Nigeria_Gov Akeredolu

A Yoruba Group, Afenifere Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, on Friday commended the Ondo State Governor,Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, for showing competent leadership in leading his brother Governors from the Southwest region.

The group, led by former Deputy Governor of Oyo State,Iyiola Oladokun, particularly hailed Governor Akeredolu for taking the bull by the horns on the creation of the Amotekun Corps.

This is even as the Governor declared his determination to continue to pursue the cause of the western Nigeria, especially on Security.

The Afenifere Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba which also included the former deputy Governor of Ogun State, Segun Adesegun, condoled Governor Akeredolu and the entire people of the state over the June 5th, attack in Owo.

“We want to commend you for showing competent leadership. You took the Owo attack as a personal tragedy. You ascribed maximum reaction that is expected of a leader to what has happened.

“We want to commend you as the chairman of Southwest Governors that gave birth to the establishment and nurturing of Amotekun. We want to urge that you continue to strengthen this institution.

“We want to commend your administration and the judiciary on the prosecution and sentencing of those who were involved in the death of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter.”The group said.

Governor Akeredolu, who described the June 5th, attack in Owo as indescribable, said it was a bad day for the entire people of the state.

The Governor said:”We are not running away from the fact that our forest today is no longer safe. Our farmers are being threatened, being killed. Their wives are being raped. That is why we spoke about anti-open grazing and ridding our forest of illegal occupants.

“We can’t fold our arms. Self defense is becoming important. If we are to progress, we must come together. There is collaboration among Amotekun corps in the Southwest. Let us talk to our people. There is need for cooperation.

“Whatever it will take, Nigeria must be restructured. Whatever it will take, there must be state police. When you have a state police, you have your people populating it and they will be determined to defend themselves. We have our convictions. And we are ready to continue to prosecute the conviction of Yoruba with courage.

“We must impact and people will feel our impact.
We are determined to pursue the cause of western Nigeria. I was voted in for the security of lives and property of my people. If it is threatened by the trilogy of herdsmen, Boko Haram and ISWAP, we must be able to face the war. It is a war.

“We are being restricted by this absurd federalism. A federalism that says there are prohibited Arms but the terrorists and herdsmen are carrying AK47. This same federalism is saying Amotekun can not carry these arms. We must find a way around it.” The Governor noted.
