When Hon. Olatunde, Olubola Adeleye Foundation put smiles on faces of 100 families in Ilara Mokin

As part of its efforts to bring succour to the less privileged in the face of the present lockdown occasioned by COVID-19 pandemica, no fewer than 100 families from Ilara Mokin, Ifedore Local Government, Ondo State had benefitted from palliatives distributed by the Olubola Adeleye Foundation. a Non Governmental Organization.

The beneficiaries which comprises aged women, widows and other vulnerable were given among other food items; 5kg bag of rice, 5kg bag of gari, while facemasks were given to some beneficiaries as an additional items.

The foundation in conjunction with Honorable Tunde Adeleye distributed the foodstuffs on the 9th April, 2020 in an occasion chaired by His Royal Majesty, Oba Abiodun Adefehinti, the Alara of Ilara Mokin.

Speaking on the essence of the distribution of foodstuffs to the needy, the Founder of the Foundation, Mrs. Olubola Adeleye said the idea was to ease the economic plight of the needy and less privileged in Ilara Mokin, so as to fight against hunger which is currently biting hard on the masses.

Adeleye said, more work can be done to help the needy and less privileged in Ilara Mokin, especially during this lockdown occasioned by the pandemic and beyond.

She recommended wealth creation in the form of empowerment through skills acquisition and capacity building programs to cushion the economic hardship of the less privileged in Ilara Mokin.

According to her, “noticeably, the unemployed youths are willing to learn a trade and make regular income for themselves. However, they are unable to access funds to be able to pay for the requisite training programme, which usually ranges between a minimum of 6 months to two years, depending on the vocation.

“Other factor is the inability to procure the tools, machines or equipment to kick start their career in their chosen vocation.

“With the availability of funds for training and for the procurement of equipments to work, the unemployed youths will be able to be self reliant, and more importantly, have a regular source of income.

“This income will be used to provide succor to their aged parents, and gradually decrease the unemployment rate in the town of Ilara Mokin,” she added.

While also calling for supports and donations from well meaning Nigerians to help achieve its set goals, Mrs. Adeleye said the foundation will appreciate and welcome volunteers who are interested in its areas of interest.

At the event which took place at the new palace of Alara of Ilara Mokin, the beneficiaries were made to maintain social distancing in order to curb the spread of the virus, as not more than 20 people were called into the venue at a time

In his remarks, Oba Adefehinti applauded the initiative saying it is a welcome development while also urging other well meaning sons and daughters of the area to take a cue from the gesture and replicate same for the good of humanity.

Reacting, some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organizers of the program saying it is a welcome development while also enjoining other well meaning Nigerians to take a cue from the gesture.
